Skype conference call is better and better features
Skype is the best conference video call
Skype is a good free video call application
The basic features of Skype for Business include:
Instant messaging (IM)
1. audio call
2. Video call
The advanced features relate to the integration with other
Microsoft software:
• Availability of contacts based on Microsoft Outlook
contacts stored in a Microsoft Exchange Server
• Users can retrieve contact lists from a local directory
service such as Microsoft Exchange Server
• Microsoft Office can show if other people are working on
the same document
• All communication between clients is done through a Skype
for Business server. This makes communications more secure, since messages do
not need to leave the corporate intranet, unlike Internet-based Windows Live
Messenger. The server can be configured to relay messages to other instant
messaging networks, avoiding the installation of additional software on the
client side.
• There are several types of clients available for
Microsoft Lync, including mobile clients.
• Uses SIP as the basis for its communication protocol with
the client
• Offers support for TLS and SRTP to encrypt and protect
signaling and media traffic
• Allow file sharing
• Collaboration through whiteboard documents, where
participants are free to share text, drawings and graphic annotations.
• Collaboration through PowerPoint documents, where
participants can control and view presentations, as well as allow everyone to
add text, drawings and graphic annotations.
• Survey lists, where the presenters can organize surveys
and all the participants can vote and see the results.
• Desktop sharing, generally allowing participants to view
and collaborate on a Windows screen
• Share Windows applications, by allowing participants to
see and collaborate on a specific application.
All collaboration sessions are automatically defined as
conferences, where clients can invite more contacts. Conference initiators
(usually called "organizers") can encourage participants to act as
presenters or demean them to act as assistants. They can also define some basic
policies about what presenters and attendees can see and do. The deeper details
of policy permissions are defined at the server level.
After the acquisition of Skype by Microsoft in May 2011,
the Lync and Skype platforms could connect, but sometimes only after a long
time of provisioning.
